One of the Helicopters used is a Kawasaki BK117-B2 it is a Versatile, medium weight twin engine helicopter capable of lifting 1,300 kg on it's cargo hook.  It has a cruising speed of 235kph but can reach 270kph.  Nine people can fly on this Helicopter with normally only eight are taken each trip.

The BK117-B2 is  Versatile and powerful machine, the  is a helicopter capable of many tasks, from carrying large passenger numbers, through ambulance and fire fighting work, to aerial crane.  The Helicopter used at Falls Creek is also used as the Air Ambulance for the Australian motor bike and car Gram Prix event.  It has been seen on TV on Rove Live and Who Dares Wins.
