FALLS CREEK CEO TO TAKE UP CANADIAN POST

Author: Michael Bradley

Release Date: 1/8/2005

Falls Creek CEO, Ian Grant, has resigned to take up a position in British Columbia, Canada.

Chair of Falls Creek Resort Management Board, Judy Ward, said Ian has contributed strongly to the revitalization of Falls Creek over the past three years.

“We are sad to see Ian moving with his family to British Columbia in early September, but understand he has been lured back to the private sector,” Ms Ward said.

"In the past three years we have seen Falls Creek enter a new era, with significant growth in snow season visitor numbers, tourism dollars, attraction of new investment and new investors, plus growth in all year visitation.

“This season the period of rapid development has culminated in the successful tender for development of the Village Plaza precinct at Falls Creek.

“The Board is particularly disappointed to lose Ian at this exciting juncture in Fall Creek’s development, and thank him for the work he has contributed.

“Ian will remain a close friend and associate of Falls Creek and will hopefully play a personal role in the future development of the resort and its community.

“We have ongoing confidence in Ian Grant and understand his attraction to the private sector ski industry. We wish him and his partner Suzie, who has also contributed to the Village, much happiness and success in the future.”

Ms Ward said Ian will officially conclude his role as CEO at Falls Creek on 21 August in order to meet commitments to his new role as CEO of Silver Star Mountain Resort.

“Winter season operations at Falls Creek are running well,” she said. “Falls Creek Resort Management operations will be overseen by executives Neil Tappe and Helen Sharpley until a replacement is appointed. The Board will advertise the position and has appointed an external search firm to conduct the process.”
